“Let the Right One In” Goes Hollywood — Is This Really a Good Idea?
Let the Right One In, the modern vampire classic from Sweden (based on a novel of the same name) is getting the Hollywood remake treatment, with the child vampire played by Chloe Moretz (who’s also “Hit Girl” in the upcoming Kick-Ass), the location moved to New Mexico, and the American version re-christened Let Me In. Set to debut later this year, it’s being directed by Matt Cloverfield Reeves, who talks at length with MTV about his version. “It’s such a beautiful coming-of-age story,” he gushes, “in addition to being such a terrific genre story.”
By now, anyone who loves the original film is probably getting nervous. “Beautiful coming-of-age story” isn’t exactly how most would describe the Swedish version, and the vampire there isn’t a cute-as-a-button girl, but dark and androgynous, for horrible reasons that are explained in the novel and hinted at in the movie. It’s hard to believe this Hollywood version can work as perfectly, or be as true to the source material. Then again, Let Me In may succeed on its own terms. But even if it doesn’t, hopefully it’ll at least spur more people to watch the original, to see what they missed.

I dunno about Let me in (I’ll probably like it but I’m a goon), but Kick-Ass looks like fun!
The original was super freaky and weird. The hollywood version will probably destroy it of its original intent, but hopefully they’ll cast some hotties.
Ugh, I knew about this after I saw and tried to read the book…(the book is a little too much for me). But they’re definitely going to ruin it, somehow.
