Frequently Asked Questions About City of Eternals

Can I run this game on my computer?

We’ve built this game so that it will run on virtually any system and we are currently optimizing the game to run on even a $200 netbook.  So long as you have an internet connection and a browser, we want you to be able to play our games.  Since we’re still in alpha state, the game is not yet completely optimized for all systems.  It does not work for all users on linux at this time, but we are working as hard as we can on making sure that the playing experience is equal across all operating systems.  We also recommend that you play on a system with 1GB of RAM and have at least 500MB in your internet browser’s cache.

City of Eternals game statsWhat’s the point of this game, anyway?

City of Eternals is a multiplayer online gameworld (sometimes called an MMO) where you complete missions and adventure to become the ultimate vampire. You can achieve that in many ways, including: defeating monsters and other vampires in combat, harvesting raw materials and crafting precious items, and completing mission adventures in New Valencia. (To start a mission, click on game characters with a scroll and “!” above their heads.) The more you perform these activities, the more powerful your vampire becomes. You can also customize your clothing and home, and meet fellow City of Eternal players from around the world. You can even create your own vampire House by turning your friends into Minions who do your bidding! (And that’s just the start.)

How do I fight monsters and other vampires?

Here’s a basic combat guide!

What are Ohais?

Ohais are the most precious currency in City of Eternals, used to purchase valuable items. They can be earned through various activities, and bought with real cash. They’re currently not available in the world, but are coming soon! Stay tuned for more details.

What are Explorer Points?

Explorer Points reward you for checking out new areas, talking to NPCs, and completing missions.  Basically, everything that is not fighting/harvesting/making will add to your standing as an Explorer, so do as much as you can and keep looking for new and exciting things.  Currently, you aren’t able to assign them, but check back soon for ways to advance as a seeker in New Valencia!

How can I get more inventory slots?

Bags are extremely rare, but you can purchase them from certain merchants with ohais, win them in very special quests and events, and occasionally get them from your Minions after a mission.  Keep playing and searching and you’ll find them!

City of Eternals Zone instancingWhat are zones, and what happens when I move between them?

Zones are different sections of the game world, usually demarcated with big directional arrows. Sometimes when you enter a zone, it will ask you for what instance (or version) you want to enter. (See picture.) This happens when the zone becomes too crowded; a new copy is automatically created to accommodate more players. There’s no functional difference between the different zone copies, except the players in them. However, the game system tries to place you in zones shared by your group members, or where your Facebook friends are located.

What do I do if my question isn’t covered here?

Ask one of our players!  We have a great community of higher level players now and most of them would be more than happy to help you out if you’re not sure what to do.  Just politely chat your question and you’ll have help in no time!  If that doesn’t work, look for me, Matt, the Online Community Manager.  I usually hang out in Downtown New Valencia (currently in a stylish blood red trenchcoat) and love any chance to help out our players.  And, if you don’t have any questions, feel free to say hi anyway!
