Who Wants to See “Cirque du Freak” This Week?
Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant, based on a book series of the same name by Darren Shan, opens in theaters this weekend, and it looks pretty cool. Trailer below:
Looks like it’s getting mostly mixed reviews. A.O. Scott of the New York Times says it’s a “not quite successful attempt to meld disparate moods and tones… [which] starts out as a voice-over-driven satire of youth in the suburbs, with shades of John Hughes and Heathers and then jumps from horror to melodrama to a kind of carnival backstage comedy.” He says that like it’s a bad thing. Not sure about John C. Reilly as a Vampire, myself. Anyway, is it on your must-see list, and if you have seen it, what’d you think?
